Standing at an impressive height of 8585m, Kanchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world. Located in the less frequented and less crowded East-Northern part of Nepal, it shares its border with Sikkim, India. The Kanchenjunga Round Trek offers a challenging and rewarding hike around this majestic mountain, with options to reach both the North and South Base Camps. Many trekkers consider it to be one of the finest trekking destinations in Nepal. The region is protected under the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area, spanning 786km², which was established in 1997. This area is believed to have been a pristine habitat for the legendary yeti, the abominable snowman, as shared by several locals. Trekking through this spectacular landscape of snow-capped mountains, lush tropical forests, rolling hills, pastures, and waterfalls will leave you with a heavenly experience. Since its opening in 1988, the trail has offered diverse flora and fauna, including coniferous forests, alpine shrubs, and meadows, along with fascinating wildlife such as the Snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, red panda, blood pheasant, golden breasted fulvetta, snow cock, and red-billed chough.
