Langtang Valley Trekking is renowned for its journey through the Valley of Glaciers, nestled within the Langtang National Park. Considered the third most popular trekking route in Nepal, it offers breathtaking views of majestic snow-capped mountains and enchanting glaciers within the Langtang range.
Spanning 10 days, this trek provides a remarkable experience of the valley’s natural, cultural, and geographical diversity. Situated near the border with Tibet, although distant from the Tibetan Plateau, the Langtang valley still bears Tibetan influences on the local population, predominantly the Tamang tribe.
The trek commences from Syabru Besi, approximately an 8-hour local bus ride from Kathmandu. The trail leading to Langtang valley presents a combination of challenging terrain, featuring both steep ascents and gentle plains. As such, individuals with moderate physical endurance can successfully undertake this trek. Throughout the journey, there are numerous tea houses providing food and accommodation. These teahouses have been rebuilt following the devastating earthquake in April 2015, which destroyed the entire Langtang valley. However, there are no lodging facilities beyond Kyanjin Gompa, necessitating a return to Kyanjin Gompa for overnight stays. Along the way, trekkers will pass through several reconstructed Tamang settlements. The trek’s highest points, Kyanjin Ri (4773m) and Tsergo Ri (4984m), offer awe-inspiring panoramic views of the Himalayas and exquisite glaciers.
Compared to popular trekking regions like Everest and Annapurna, Langtang Valley Trekking is relatively less crowded. The trail winds through dense forests adorned with oak and rhododendron trees, showcasing a diverse range of bird species and plants. The Langtang Valley is enveloped by the impressive Langtang Lirung, and trekkers will encounter prayer flags and beautifully painted Mani walls along the way. Additionally, the region is renowned for its cheese production, and visitors have the opportunity to visit the local Yak Cheese factory, operated by the Government of Nepal.
At Chamlang Expeditions, we are delighted to offer our services for the Langtang Valley Trekking, ensuring an unforgettable and cherished trip to Nepal in 2023.
